In this city met Jewish, Arab and Christian cultures that made up its character and left their legacy.
Cordoba, ancient town, owns the second historic center in Europe, the biggest urban space, recognized as Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Close to Mosque-Cathedral the old Jewish town (where you can visit the Synagogue and Sefarad´s Home) framed by a lot of irregular sized small streets such like Calleja de las Flores (Flowers Small narrow street) and Calleja del Pañuelo.

Jewish Quarter (Barrio de la judería)
Located at north west point from the Mosque Cathedral, the Jewish Old Town is known in Spain as those urban places were Jew people were living between centuries X and XV.
During the 4 centuries of Omeya hegemony, cultural, artistic and commercial activities from Muslim people makes out from Al-Andalus the most known cultural place in Europe. Historians speak with admiration about Córdoba, capital of the Caliphate Omeya, became a magnificent cultural center with beautiful lakes, gardens, sparkling palaces and mosques.

Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita Catedral)
The former Mosque of Cordova, turned into the 13th century in the current Cathedral of Santa Maria, it is considered the most important monument of the whole Andalusí architecture, together with the Alhambra. With 23.400 square meters, it was the biggest second mosque of the world in surface, right behind the Mosque of the Mecca.

Fortress of The Christian King & Queen (Alcázar)
Accommodation for King and Queen during their stay in Cordoba. They stayed more than eight years in the strength, directing from there, the campaign against the Kingdom of Granada. The architectural set has a sober character in its outer part and splendidly in its inner, with the magnificent gardens and courts that support a Mudejar inspiration. Finished off by 4 towers: Dove, Lions, Tribute and Inquisition, giving to the building an almost square form.

Madinat Al-Zahra
It is a palatal and courtly city that was ordered to be built by Abderramán III. The archaeological deposit of Medina Azahara is declared Good of cultural interest in the category of monument from the year 1923. Madinat Al-Zahra was distributed in three terraces; the enclosure of the city adopts a rectangular tracing (an extension of 112 hectares).

Gastronomy of Cordoba
The most typical plates from gastronomy in Cordoba are the bull tail, the flamenquines of highland ham, the salmorejo, the kinds of anchovy in vinegar and the typical native Córdoba tart. This last one is the genuine dessert of the city of Cordova. It is kind of a stuffed mass of puff-pastry of citron preserve and covered with chunks of brown almonds and powder of sugar and cinnamon. Some pastry also refill this cake with chunks of Iberian ham from the homeland.

Cordoba in May: Patios, Crosses y Fair Carnival
Holidays of Crosses of May are the point of beginning of almost a whole month of holidays season. The precious Crosses adorned with carnations are the attractive point for these holidays to spend with old good friends. From the year 1918 there´s an organization in May for contest of Courts, in which typical tenement houses are adorned by the effort of their owners to obtain the prestigious prizes. Along with this event to this contest there takes place the contest of Gratings and Balconies. And the colophon of May takes place with the Fair / Carnival of Our Virgin of the Health, known nationally being a point of reference for friends' meeting and families. The fair / carnival supposes the exaltation of all the holidays of May, 8 days to enjoy, dancing Sevillanas folk music plus delighting the exquisite plates in every shed.
